Discover all the information, guidelines and regulations regarding the transportation of syringes, medications, or respiratory assistance devices onboard our aircraft.
Syringes on Board
Air Tahiti Nui provides designated containers on its aircraft for the safe disposal of syringes and needles. Please inform the cabin crew upon boarding.
It is important to note that needles and syringes must not be disposed of in seat pockets or any other unsecured container.
Medications on Board
The cabin crew is unable to accept any human products, such as blood bags, or pharmaceutical products that require special storage. We recommend making necessary arrangements in advance.
Please be aware that for safety reasons, containers containing dry ice (up to 2.5kg / 5.51 lbs per passenger) must not be sealed, and a small vent must allow for the release of CO2.
Respiratory Assistance Devices
Respiratory assistance devices, such as portable oxygen concentrators (POCs) and assisted breathing devices (including CPAPs), are allowed in the cabin free of charge in addition to your regular baggage allowance.
Important: To ensure that your device is properly accommodated, please notify us tat the time of booking. Be sure to inform your Air Tahiti Nui agency or travel agent so that this information can be added to your reservation.
Below are the conditions for cabin transport, acceptance, and use of respiratory assistance devices during the flight, along with the list of authorized models.
Medical Certificate: A medical certificate dated within the last 10 days is required for transporting these devices.
Placement during the flight: Your device should be placed under the seat in front of you or against you, in compliance with the safety regulations.
Restrictions: Devices are not allowed in seats located at emergency exits.
Dimensions and weight: Your device must comply with the dimensions and weight limits for carry-on baggage.
Battery-Powered devices
Certification: Your device must be FAA-approved.
Battery Life: It should have sufficient battery power to cover at least 1.5 times the expected flight time. We recommend checking the battery life of your device before your flight and carrying extra batteries if needed.
Lithium batteries: These a subject to specific transport conditions, detailed on the "Regulated Baggage" page of our “Baggage Policy”.
Devices requiring an electrical outlet
Availability: Allowed only in Poerava Business and Moana Premium Classes.
Electrical outlets: Seats in these classes are equipped with outlets for connecting approved respiratory devices. The power consumption of your device must not exceed the maximum power output of the outlet: 1A-140Watts, 110 Volts/60Hz. Seats in Moana Economy do not have electrical outlets; battery-operated devices must be able to operate independently for the duration of the flight as booked.
Additional Precautions
Batteries: we recommend charging the batteries of your device before your flight and carrying extra batteries to ensure you have enough power in case the outlets are deactivated during the flight.
